FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’m not a Wisconsin Resident.  Can I still register voters?  YES!  You do not have to be a Wisconsin resident to register voters in Wisconsin.

 

How long does the training take?  The training is about 1 hour and is completed via Zoom.  There are also some online training videos that can make your volunteer experience even better.  In person support for the first shift is available.

 

How long are shifts?  Shifts are 2-3 hours, but feel free to come for just a portion of time if it’s too long, or to sign up for more than one shift if it’s too short!

 

What should I do if I have a problem while I am working a shift?  Call Jim at #414-218-5944 and he will be able to answer any questions you have.  If Jim is not available, call or text Laura at #847-652-0510.

 

Is the Milwaukee Voter Project a partisan organization?  No.  We are a non-partisan organization.  We want to register everyone to vote.

 

What can a voter use for acceptable proof of residence?  We need to get a scan of one of the following:  driver's license, state ID, utility bill, pay stub, affidavit from homeless shelter, lease, tribal ID, IRS check, student ID & fee receipt, or a bank statement or any government document with correct name and address.

 

Can people show me these documents on their phones?  YES!  Have them take a screenshot and text / email to Jim at james.balk44@gmail.com or #414-218-5944.

 

I speak Spanish.  Where can I best use this skill? Spanish speaking volunteers are encouraged to sign up at the Chase location, but are welcome to work at any of the 3 locations!

 

Can I bring a friend or two to help?  The optimal number of people to work at one time is two.  We recommend that you do not have more than 2 people at one shift.
